Sometimes all you can say is thank you!

Thank You: Why Do It?

Thank you holds an unusual position in any transaction. Think about it — by the time you speak it, you probably already have what you came for. 

So why say it?

...to acknowledge someone for doing something for you, it’s the right thing to do. 

Some time between Saturday and Sunday, we received an overseas email with picture updates of our lonely Portuguese house.  I believe we are the ones that are lonely for the house, but I will throw it out there any way.  The house appears to need us as well.  It was such a gratifying unexpected surprise! As a result, Tony and I poured over every detail of the photos over several espressos.   We took the next hour, properly caffeinated, to travel back to our future, again.  We continued to visit and revisit the build out, construction and stages of the edifice, while effete, we were very satisfied. 

This one is for you, Mr.'X??o'.  

Truth be told, Tony, the husband, has the good fortune of having steadfast friends.  Maybe it's a cultural benefit of being Portuguese or just good old common friendship skills. Never the less, sometimes all you can say is thanks.  Obrigado, M.'X.'  Your timing was perfect and your gesture immeasurable! 

Regarding a common thanking, as opposed to, a common spanking which is also very customary.  Every day this past week I have been reaching out, online, to different folks to say “thank you”. This started because I’m awful at leaving comments, but wanted to let people know that I’m reading, and that their words have touched me. It made me feel all warm and fuzzy, so I decided to make it a conscious effort.  

Call it getting back to basics, call it being nice,  call it connecting if you want. I think we could all use a little more positive energy and a little more thankfulness.  


Heads up! Should you notice my lack of presence online for the rest of the week in the thank tank, I am going down again for, hopefully, one last surgery. Once this phoenix resurfaces, the plan is to go back onto the thanking trail and catch up with all of you.
